Premier's visit to Bowral

NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, made a visit to Bowral on Tuesday, June 6. A meeting of nearly 200 locals was organised at Bradman Museum. This allowed the Premier to address the group and to answer some questions. The meeting was very successful.

An invitation to attend came to me from Wollondilly MP, Jai Rowell.

As I had hoped, I did have an opportunity after the formal items were over to speak with the Premier as she mingled. Naturally I wanted to raise the issue of greater resources for palliative care and briefly hit the main points of why this was needed.
The Premier clearly knows the reasons anyway. She kept nodding as I spoke; and then, with a small smile, promptly said : “Grahame, watch this space.”
So I took this as an encouraging sign that we are going to get somewhere on palliative care resourcing in the forthcoming state budget. How far ? Only time will tell.

Update : For the good news of the actual funding increase for palliative care as announced by the Government, see below.
